One of these foods can help lower blood pressure. Which would you choose?
a. Whole milk
b. Fruit
c. Pickles
If you answered ‘b’, you’re right!
We all know it's important to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, but researchers have now discovered even more benefits to hitting our daily minimums. In a recent long-term study, they found that people who eat more whole fruit, especially apples, pears, grapes, and raisins, are more likely to have lower blood pressure than those who rarely eat them. By eating fruits and vegetables, we're able to get minerals like potassium and substances called flavonoids, which both help to lower blood pressure.

Insect bites and stings can be painful, itchy, swollen, and red - which of the below is the best way to treat these symptoms?
a. Concentrated heat
b. Applying pressure
c. Over-the-counter bug bite treatments
If you answered ‘A’, you’re right!
Even a small insect bite can be maddening with its pain, swelling, and itching. In a recent study in Germany, when concentrated heat was applied to the site of the bite or sting, symptoms went away more quickly, especially when the dominant symptom was pain. Applying ice can also be a helpful, easy way to numb any pain and reduce minor swelling accompanying a bite. In the case of a severe allergic reaction to an insect bite, call your doctor or 911 immediately.

How many calories from added sugar can women have per day?
a. 100
b. 500
c. 700
If you answered ‘A’, you’re right!
The American Heart Association recommends limiting added sugars to no more than 100 calories a day - or six teaspoons - for most women and no more than 150 calories a day - or nine teaspoons - for most men. Sugar-sweetened beverages are the biggest source of added sugar in the American diet and even lurk in seemingly ‘better for you’ drinks such as sports drinks, fruit drinks, and flavored milks. Other sources of added sugar are baked items, like cakes, muffins, cookies and pies, ice cream, and candy. Try to replace it! Enhance your foods with sweet spices instead of sugar – try cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger and even add fresh or dried fruit to cereal and oatmeal. When having a beverage – reach for sparkling water, unsweetened tea, or sugar-free drinks.
